Tonight’s Drink …

Agave nectar? That is an interesting ingredient. I will have to try this one out! What do you garnish with? Pineapple leaves?

Thanks!

Tonight’s drink

Martinez

1oz gin 1 oz sweet vermouth 1/4oz maraschino cherry liqueur dash of orange bitters shake and strain into a cocktail glass

Apparently this was the drink before the Martini got popular. It’s okay, but I’m not a big fan of Sweet Vermouth.

I’ll drink it though. Try to stop me.

So, while I was looking for something new to try tonight, I came across this, and had to try it. (sorry it’s not a Tiki Drink … but they can’t all be heaven’s nectar … )

It’s called a Waldorf, and it’s pretty good.
Rinse a coupe glass with Absinthe, and set aside. Mix together 2oz of rye, 3/4oz of sweet vermouth, and three dashes of Angostura bitters. pour in the glass and enjoy!

No drinks last night, but as I'm stuck doing some work on a Saturday with an unused bottle of St. Elizabeths staring at me from the corner, I whipped up a Jasper's Jamaican.

Recipe from https://www.seriouseats.com/jaspers-jamaican-drinks-cocktails-recipe

1.25 oz Jamaican rum (I used Appleton 12)
1/2 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 tsp simple syrup

Shake w/ cubed ice, and strain.

It's good and seems to go well with computing statistics. I may mix a second w/ a tad more allspice dram and try it with agave nectar.

Drunk math is best math.

After spending the day at the In-laws' there is no better way to unwind and forget about jumping off the roof than a Tequila Mary! (Tequila Maria, El Muerto Rojo ... whatever you may call it)

Okay … I’m a Martini man. I freely admit it. Traditional, original, whatever. I also like Absynth. A lot. So imagine my interest when I come across a recipe for an Absynth Martini! (Thank you Pinterest)

Make your Martini as you usually do … then ad 1/4oz (or less!) of Absynth. Amazingly good. I’m sure it has something to do with the botanicals or booze fairies … I don’t know … I’ve had three and need a nap. If you don’t like it, throw it out and have a MaiTai. No one needs to know, and I won’t tell!
