2009 Tiki Trail, port of call, Frankies Tiki Room

As we complete the trail, we save one of my favorites for last. Frankies Tiki Room. Drenched in bamboo, thatch, and numerous carvings, this one is a classic in every sense of the word. From the minute you walk into the inky darkness, and your eyesight is stolen away from the desert sun, you are surrounded by tiki. Its everywhere. It just takes a few minutes before you can see it.
This place has been evolving for 15 years now, but when you walk in, it feels like 70. Works by various tiki royalty abound. Its dark, its small, its well worn, and yes, it smells like a bar, a bar your grandparents would have loved to hang out at. Its comfortable, let it embrace you. lol.
The drinks are well crafted, strong, and generous, and best of all, its open 24/7, every day of the year.
I always get this vision of a 4am bender on Christmas morning, drinking with a few of the locals, and no place to go. Its classic sin city.
