2009 Tiki Trail, port of call, The Bali hai

Originally, one of the Christians Hut, chain locations, built out on Shelter Island in 53, the building was brought out of bankruptcy, and reborn as
The Bali Hai, in 54, by Tom Ham. It was passed on to his family members in 73, and has been a San Diego landmark ever since.
We visited right before a major upgrade in 2010. Since the best shot of the building is from the water, it appears that I concentrated my photos on the several tiki artifacts,
scattered about the establishment.
The original building, contained more than 15 different types of wood, which were all restored in the 2010 upgrade.
Mr. Bali Hai, at the entrance, originally had a bone through his nose, but it kept breaking off, from kids standing on it, while waiting with their parents, for a table.
After being broken and reattached hundreds of times, it was finally left off for good.
The Goof, on the roof (sorry, had to do it) was originally known at The Big Opu at the early Christians hut locations, before being renamed, reimagined, and finding his forever home, atop the Bali Hai.
As of this date, The Bali Hai has served 2,801,731 Mai Tai's
