So, not all of my books are related to Tiki or MCM culture here in the Tiki Lounge library. I also have some books about 19th/20th century artists I love, like Paul Gauguin and Edward Hopper. The Magic Mirror of M. C. Escher is a retrospective of the work of the Dutch artist, who was very popular as I was coming of age in the 1980s. A coworker of mine gifted me a print of Ascending and Descending (featured on this book’s cover), my favorite and arguably Escher’s most famous work of art. I still have this piece hanging proudly on my non-Tiki art wall. I also have several ties featuring his geometric shapes of birds and frogs. I wish I wore ties more often!
