Day 205. Thor Heyerdahl’s Kon Tiki

So, I’m afraid this is the last book in my Tiki library. For now. Thor Heyerdahl was a Norwegian writer and explorer in the MCM era who sought to prove that the Polynesian islands could have been settled by people from the East, namely South America. His Kon Tiki voyage departed Peru on 28Apr1947, sailing a raft made only of primitive materials. 101 days and 4300 miles later, his crew arrived in the Tuamotu islands. Mission accomplished, Heyerdahl wrote a book about this voyage, The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas, published in 1948. I have what appears to be the first edition of this book in English.

Way cool!

I'm guessing you got that used. Did you stumble on it serendipitously in some musty old book shop? Or did you seek it out? I'll bet there's a good story either way.
