Day 265. Peggy Lee

There were many female lounge singers who made names for themselves in the Mid-Century Modern era. On of the lesser known ladies (to me) was Peggy Lee. Oh sure, everybody has heard her smash hit Fever. But she was much more than a one-hit wonder. I started hearing many of her songs for the first time on the Siriusly Sinatra channel, so I decided to buy a greatest hits album, Ultimate Peggy Lee. The funny thing is, most of the songs I hear on the radio aren’t even on this CD. Which means the volume of her output is even greater than I thought. It’s all good.

I've always liked Peggy Lee. I put her up there with Frank and Dean as masters of the MCM songbooks. I think her closest modern equivalent is probably Adele.
