When it comes to Tiki temples, the granddaddy of them all is The Mai-Kai in Fort Lauderdale FL. It opened in 1956 and is the oldest Polynesian supper club still standing. I’ve been there twice: first in 2012 with my wife Jess, then in 2014 for The Hukilau with my buddy Bruce. Sadly, they’ve been closed for a couple of years because of a kitchen fire and roof collapse, but they expect to reopen again in 2023, better than ever. I can’t wait to go back!
