Early in my Tiki journey, I tried to replicate a Mai-Tai. This was back before I had done my homework and discovered the original Trader Vic’s 1944 recipe. My drink had a lot more ingredients, including multiple fruit juices and mango rum. I basically mixed up a Rum Barrel, and I decided to call it Panda’s Punch. I serve it in the same Mai-Kai barrel mug I brought home from where I tried my first Rum Barrel. It is not a Mai-Tai, but it is a tasty Tiki drink in its own way.
