Kia ora from Toronto! Kia ora is a greeting of the Māori people in New Zealand where the Tiki man originated. I love everything about the Tiki culture both midcentury and the history behind it. The cocktails, tiki bars , music, art and mythology are always such a pleasure to experience and makes me happy to be a part of it. Here in Toronto we have a couple of Tiki bars namely The Shameful Tiki which is true to authentic. I've never been to Tiki Oasis or the Hukilau but I imagine myself at those magical places someday. I have most of the books by Sven Kirsten, in fact it was his first book that got me into this in the first place about 21 years ago. I'm also a big fan of Shag and Edgar Leeteg.
I was also a member of Tiki Central way back and I'm very glad Tiki Forum came and saved the day!
Aloha and Kia ora to you, my like-minded Tiki aficionados and I hope one day to meet you all in person!
