Little Lost Tiki's Thread of Strange and Wonderful Stuffs!

Aloha Kids!
Well, it's been awhile since we've had a Tiki Specific site to gather and chat and share!
Way TOO Long!
So... I'm just gonna start posting recent work and projects for now, and get into a lil deeper dives later
once I get my "Sea-Legs"...
Forst off....
This is a project that has been simmering for a long while....
A surreal Polynesian scene....inspired by an old painting "the Cocktail of Polynesian Delights"
which in turn was inspired by the works of Bosch and Brueghel...
Got the Backline approved some time ago
and have been awaiting the word to Start coloring it.....
Here is the Backline and some shots of it in progress...
I used a raw umber ink for the foreground elements
and an olive under inking for the lighting in the background...
Also added a lil Payne's Gray here and there where needed....
Well, it's almost done and I'm excited to do the big Reveal SOON!
Anyways.... Miles to go before I sleep...so I will be chatting with you all
before you know it!
Please feel free to ask any questions about the pieces or the process....
it was that exchange of ideas that made Tiki Central so great
and I hope we can continue that dialogue here!
:)

Thanks Babs!
Hopefully THIS will make it all Better!
Since there's a LOT of work produced SINCE Tiki Central,i figured that I might as well dig up some personal faves from the Past
Things I encounter ...forgotten treasures....that kinda stuff
Here's a series of small 5 x 8" or 5 x 7" watercolor landscapes
produced during June 2021.
I guess I was able to go outside and explore thru these little peeks...
Anyways... I hope you enjoy them!
If you'd like to see more lil' landscapes from my Noggin....

wow! just wow! A total sensory overload. Your have been one busy fella Sir Kenny. I can totally see progressions in your work from years past. Bravo!

Thank you Babalu and M&M for such kind words!
I figured One Way to draw folks here
is for us to start posting more of the creations we've been creating!
And also to start sharing our process ,both artistically and mentally...
THAT was the BEST part of tiki Central,so let's Fill this site with Inspiration and Delight for all lovers of this strange art genre we belong to!
Seeing as I have a short spell of time i thought I'd share a Sneak Peek at another current graphic job.....
This one you'll be able to WEAR!
That's all I can reveal for now
BUT Here is a piece of the above mentioned art..... (Image 1)
and here's the painting with the characters that I brought into the present.... (Image 2)
and the last two pix are from the original concept that started the whole sheebang...
"Moai on the River Styx" a drawing and the final painting....(Image 3 and 4)
The painting was an interpretation of the subject "Polynesian Myth" for the
2015 Gargantuas exhibition "Blood Orgy of the Behemoths" (Image 5)
where myself,Doug Horne,Bigtoe, and Candy Weil voted on 8 Categories
and then created an exhibit with our painted interpretations of these Subjects.....
A lil bit of History for all y'alls
which I hope add a richness to these pieces and the story behind them.....

Another new One!
I think it's around 3 feet tall
"Marakihau"
Acrylic on a found piece of particle board
The Marakihau is the mythical Sea Monster/Horse from Maori Folklore.he has a Loooooong tongue that he uses to capsize fishing boats.....
Painted this yesterday while art jamming with a friend. Saw the panel..... Coated it on Blue acrylic.....
After that dried...added the light blue and green strokes.....
then pencilled it in and painted it, following the movement of the abstract flashy background.....
I'll be bringing this to next Saturday's "Hardcore Tiki Marketplace" at the Bamboo Club in Long Beach
if you'd like to adopt him!
