Hello everyone, I'm Teo, pleased to meet you all! đź‘‹

After a few weeks of hard work I have finally perfected my first tiki recipe.

I wanted to create a drink that blended the aromas of the tiki era with the lightness of a classic cape codder cocktail.

Meet the Gauthier (French name inspired by the Francophone Caribbean archipelago).

Recipe:
  • 60 ml Blended lightly aged Rum (preferably Plantation 3 stars)
  • 15 ml Luxardo Maraschino
  • 30 ml Fresh lime juice
  • 15 ml Fresh Grapefruit juice
  • 20 ml Passion fruit syrup
  • 7.5 Cinnamon syrup

Add all ingredients into a shaker with crushed ice.
Shake for 5 to 7 second and pour into a double rocks glass.
Garnish with a Pineapple spear or a pressed half lime and Fresh Mint.

I have tried many twists but I find this recipe to be particularly balanced.
Luxardo is an excellent modifier and, in combination with the Donn's mix (in the form of grapefruit juice and passion syrup 2:1), it gives a slightly acid and spicy touch at the same time.

In my opinion the drink is very light and "diluted", it takes up the concept of a cape codder but keeps the tiki soul thanks to the impact of the rum and the acidity of the lime juice.

Unfortunately I'm not a good photographer so I'm not attaching any photos for now.
By the way the canary yellow color is very captivating and perfect for a poolside drink or a cocktail with a more Polynesian soul.

Feel free to try making it one and let me know what you think!! 🍹🍸

@cteo welcome to the forum!

Your recipe looks like it would be excellent. I think most home bars would have have all of those ingredients already. Thank you for the post!
