Commercial New San Diego Tiki Bar

A new tiki bar, The Luau, recently opened in the College East/Rolando/La Mesa area. I have not been yet but from what I can see it's a tropical themed neighborhood bar targeting the college crowd. Probably easier to get into than False Idol, but without the drink quality (the Mai Tai contains pineapple juice). I plan to check it out soon.

Definitely not high tiki but could be fun if in the area.

Checked this out recently and I was impressed. It is modern tiki with tributes to old tiki. The drinks are decent. Yeah, False Idol it's not, but the drinks are at least as good as Bali Hai (better in some cases) and easier to get into than False Idol.

Looks like a great space! I would spend some time there and have 1 or 6 drinks.
