Totally OT but I think you all will dig the over the top theming: Casa Bonita, Denver, CO

I first heard of this restaurant after reading a story that Matt Stone and Trey Parker are trying to purchase and re-open a beloved Denver Restaurant, Casa Bonita, which was a quarantine casualty.

Check this place out:

Gunfights, puppet shows, musicians, a magic show, dancing monkeys, and.... in-restaurant waterfalls and cliff diving:

I'm awestruck with how ridiculous and awesome this place is / was.

I hope it's true about Matt and Trey. Their South Park episode about Casa Bonita is a fan favorite, and they do an awesome job of showing the restaurant and all it's wonders in animated form.

I know. And I thought that the Mai Kai was wonderfully over the top! If they're successful, my next business trip out to CO, I'm flying in and out of Denver instead of the Springs. This place looks totally gonzo.

And I wonder if it smells like that sweet spot between Pirates of the Caribbean and Tortuga Tavern (back when it was still a Mexican restaurant) where you would get whiffs of that nice musty Pirates water smell mixed with taco beef scent. Pure seduction right there, at least for me anyway.

Never been there, and probably never will, but the one thing I have an issue with it is that apparently the food and drinks weren't good from reviews and people I've talked to who have been there. Revamp the menu, revamp the drinks and breath some more life into the place and it'd be amazing.
