Very interesting! I'm not sure what he means by "dilution," though.
I'm not sure either? Is this in reference to estimated ice that will be added? (which would then melt and dilute the cocktail?)
I imagine it is something like that, but he seems to be expressing it with mathematical precision somehow.
The youtube mixologist types I've watched have explained the batch dilution number it as a rough approximation of how much water would be melted into your cocktail after shaking / stirring (if you had done so). This way you can just pour the batched drinks over ice and have the same strength / flavor as if you had shaken / stirred each one separately.
