Spring is the time when all tikiphiles turn their thoughts to tropical landscaping to enhance the immersive tiki experience!
Thanks! They showed up on Ebay as separate listings by the same seller, at a Buy It Now price significantly less than the going rate. I was able to grab both and get combined shipping. Honestly, I wasn't even looking for them at the time but saw the opportunity. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than to be good.I can't believe you scored 2 of those sconces! Amazing find! I love how they turned out, blown away as usual of your ideas and the how-to instructions.
Yes, I do! I'm fortunate enough to have attic access above both the indoor and outdoor tiki spaces. The LED bulbs have such a low draw that I just drill a hole in the ceiling drywall, run the wire up and splice it into a junction box above. One switch and all of the ceiling lights come on. Of course, getting up in the attic to make those splices during the Texas summer is brutal. I honestly put it off as long as I can, waiting for nightfall on an overcast or, preferably, rainy day. A lot of my "clever" build features like this are due entirely to happenstance and luck rather than any great vision or foresight on my part.Do you have a master switch that turns everything on at once? My startup routine has me clicking on about 4 or 5 different switches.
Thanks! I've never seen a fish like this before and have no idea what its original purpose was, but it is working out great at a light!love the fish! nice find! thanks for the tutorial.
Honestly, I had a small, 2" float I intended to affix to the peak but for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere! Now that turned out incredible! I am in awe. The only thing missing is a few fishing floats and a tiny bartender!
Great job!![]()
Thanks for the kind words! All the tikiphiles are asking if they can find copies of The Book of Tiki and Sippin' Safari in there!that is the coolest little library I have ever seen! we have a few in our neck of the woods but none that look like that. Lagoon, you get good karma for thinking of that, and helping to promote reading.
Thanks for the kind words! If I had to do it over, this wouldn't be the end result--A-frames are not a good choice for Little Free Library design. But I didn't have an A-frame represented in my tiki space and the layout really didn't offer a way to accommodate one, so this was my compromise.Amazing! This should be in front of every Tiki bar!
I liked it a lot!In Episode 81 of A Moment of Tiki, I add a bit of Disney World's Polynesian Village Resort to my home tiki space! Every so often the Mouse does a complete refurbishment of the hotel and the replaced fixtures are sold as surplus. I snagged myself a pair of light sconces and this video shows how I incorporated them into my tiki build.
