Indeed! When I first got into tiki I was daunted by how expensive all the cool stuff was. I've since learned the value of economy and wanted to share by example (to mix a metaphor). I mean, yeah, hiring Bamboo Ben or Typhoon Tommy to air drop in and do a top-to-bottom build is great if you can afford it... but most of us can't afford it!Another excellent tutorial! Great job Jayme!
I think this really shows that you don't always have to spend large amounts of money to get something that looks great. Plus, you get the "I made that" satisfaction.
I have SO MANY odd, 1' squarish pieces of lauhala and bamboo matting scattered about, not to mention random 18" offcuts of rope and other materials. I keep telling myself this is all for future lamp builds and the like. Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever going to reach that point, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!After 7.5 years of transforming my entire house, I have a small shed full of left over materials.
Bamboo pieces, rope, matting, the possibilities are endless, and now I have the time to do some creating. lol.
This type of project, is exactly, what the plan was for these extra pieces and parts..
With all the supply chain difficulty, and low inventory over the last few years, I cant imagine letting this trove of choice materials , go to waste.
Time to do a little research, while I recharge.![]()
I know, right? Poor marketing on the lamp company's part!Great tutorial! I think I have a wastebasket that looks like that! Who knew it was actually a lamp in disguise!
So say we all! Funny story--shortly after posting the episode, I was contacted on FB by a guy who had a vintage 1960s black velvet painting by "Martinroger" and wanted to know if I had any suggestions where to sell it. Alas, art dealer is not part of my skill set.Excellent! Would love to own one of his paintings. Beautiful art. Thanks for the info Jayme!
Those look great! I'm not sure that Robb would appreciate them all that much, though! Two stunning Robb Hamel reproductions, created by Tijuana, velvetmaster, Arturo Ramirez.
At The Rapa Nui Ranch, we put the art, in PARTY!
I have been watching your light creation vids. Thank you so much for thoseHey gang, Episode 39 of my YouTube show, A Moment of Tiki, is now live on the interwebz. This time out, I put the non-alcoholic spirit "Ritual Rum Alternative" though its paces to to see if it really is a legit alternative. I have to warn you, though, that if you're looking for the professionalism of Spike's Breezeway Cocktail Hour or the sophisticated philosophical musings of Tiki Bar TV, you're likely to be disappointed. This is strictly amateur hour!
My pleasure! I want to give this place all the attention it deserves so that it sticks around a good, long time! Galveston has desperately needed a place like this pretty much forever!Another excellent road trip! I'm always happy to see a new Tiki bar! I'll have to add this to our "must see" list.
Great job Jayme! (and thank you for the video tour, always nice to get a little taste of what we will find inside!)
